Efficient battery recycling supports the transition to electricity-based mobility - and is an important shift away from fossil fuels and towards renewable energy. There are enormous environmental benefits associated with this: no mining, significantly less transportation and no more landfills.
Reason 1
Huge CO2 savings
Recycling one tonne of batteries saves around 4.5 tonnes of CO2 compared to mining all the raw materials. Our innovative recycling process also saves a further 3.5 tonnes of CO2 per tonne of battery compared to conventional processes. And finally, the remaining energy from the batteries, coupled with our own solar power, covers more than half of our process energy.
Reason 2
'Closed-loop'
We close the loop with maximum recovery rates of at least 90% across all battery components. No other process achieves such high recovery rates with used batteries. We melt nothing and burn nothing. All battery components are retained and the central recyclable materials such as cobalt, nickel, lithium, manganese, copper, aluminum, steel, etc. are used again to produce new batteries.

No environmental destruction from mining
LIBREC helps slow the expansion of mining for cobalt, nickel, lithium, manganese, graphite, aluminum and other valuable materials, and contain the associated environmental degradation and disease in the affected population.
